Martin Henry Sampson, son of Martin Sampson and Helena Farry, was born in 1889 in Ballarat East, in the Colony of Victoria. ^[1]

In 1915 Martin married Lillian Grace Kimber. ^[2]

Martin died in 1944, aged 55 years, in Ballarat East, Victoria, Australia. ^[3] He was buried at Ballarat New Cemetery and Crematorium, Ballarat, Victoria (plot: Private F, Section 11, Row 1, Grave 14). ^{[4] [5]} His gravestone reads:
