Biography

Hiram Sanders lived in Appalachia, in Virginia.

Hiram was born about 1789 according to his age at death in his death record but early census records indicate he was born between 1790-1800. The male over 45 in his household in 1820 was probably his father.

Hiram Sanders appears all years in the Preston County, VA (now WV) personal property tax lists 1818-1850 but doesn’t appear in the Preston County land tax lists 1821-1850 until 1849 and 1850 when he was taxed on 496 acres on Cheat Hill which he had received from John Hoye
