Grahamstown Journal 3 December 1835 records:[2] Married at Fort Beaufort by the Rev W.R. Thomson:

Nov 23 – Mr. Job Patrick, bachelor, to Miss Esther Serjeant, both residing at Koonap, under Winterberg.

Job died in 1864; the 50-year-old widow married 67-year-old William Ravencell in John Wedderburn's House in Grahamstown on 11 November 1869.[3]

Esther was 77 years old when she passed away at Koonap in the Cape Colony on 25 December 1895.[4][5]
