Biography

Sarah was possibly born at Throapham, Yorkshire in 1697, as she was baptised there in 1697^[1], but she was also baptised at Ecclesfield, Yorkshire and there are also records dated for both 25 April and 23 May at both places. Either way she is the daughter of John/Jonathan Saunderson and Mary Smith. Saunderson is a distinct surname, as opposed to Sanderson, and the family were generally loyal to the former spelling. Sarah was married to George Graham, a Farmer in 1721 at Darfield, Yorkshire^[2] and they had just two sons, losing the elder one in later childhood. George died and was buried at Wickersley, Yorkshire in 1742, but Sarah survived until 1773 and was also buried there^[3].
