John's father, Christopher Savage was designated "of Upton-on-Severn", Worcestershire, at the time of his marriage.
Mentioned with a legacy in the Will of his brother, Francis Savage of Elmley Castle, proved 4th July 1558: "Whereas MY BROTHER, JOHN SAVAGE is bound out apprentice with one John Eliot of London, during which apprenticeship I give the said Eliot £20 to occupy, and after the end of the apprenticeship this to come to my brother, John Savage in discharge of his annuity."
The Will of [this] John Savage, gentleman, of Tetbury (d.1608), makes it unequivocally clear through the extensive relationships described in his Will that he is the same John, youngest brother of Francis Savage (Will proved PCC, 1558), which Francis was son and heir of Christopher Savage (d.1545). Therefore, John Savage of Dormston (d.1616) and John Savage of Tetbury (d.1608) are definitely two separate individuals. Further, all the terms of relationship used by John of Tetbury are precise and corroborated via other sources and he does explicitly refer to John Savage of Nobury (1579-1631) as his nephew, i.e. son of his brother Thomas Savage of Nobury Park, Inkberrow, (and Meon) (d.1603).
John was also named in the Will of his brother George Savage in 1600 [1] and then he was named in the will of his sister Bridget in 1611. [2]
