Obituary

Donald R. Saville, 81, of Beatrice, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. He was born Sept. 2, 1935 in Delphus, Iowa to John Kermit and Roxie (Mohler) Saville.

Don served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1962, and was honorably discharged as a hospital corpsman HM1 serving aboard the USS Piedmont. Don married Carolyn Thurin on Dec. 28, 1960 in Reno, Nev.

Don and Carol were small business owners in various communities in southeast Nebraska, most notably the Daylight Donut Shop in Beatrice for over 15 years. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Carolyn; his son, Mr. Doug Saville and fiancé (Kristine Rhoades) of Windom, Minn; his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Tammy (Mike) Heflebower of Castle Pines, Colo; his grandchildren, Melissa (John) Turner in Maine, Maloree (Dakota) Farmer of Alaska, Logan Heflebower and Nate Heflebower, Colo; his great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Turner and Ryan Farmer; and his sister, Phyllis Muth of Cottage Grove, Ore; as well as his nephews, Rick Hackbart and Lonnie Hackbart of Eugene, Ore.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 22 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice. A reception following the services will be at the American Legion Post 27 in Beatrice. Private family interment with military honors will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Services are entrusted to Heflebower Funeral Services.
