She is the owner of patent number GB105286, dated June 16, 1916: ' I, ENID SCARRITT WALES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at No.113, Chone Street, in the City of Detroit, County of Wayne, State of Michigan, United States of America, do hereby declare the nature of this invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: This invention consists in a wire entanglement projectile whereby masses of barbed wire or the like may be hurled over any area within range of the weapon used in such manner as to afford adequate impedance to a movement of troops over the ground.'

Greenough, industrialist and World War I lieutenant colonel, died Sunday night at her home, 1212 Fifth Ave. She was 87. She was born in Amherst, MA, a daughter of the Rev. Dr. & Mrs. William R. Scarritt and a descendant of Capt. Elizur Hale of the Continental Army. A member of the DAR, she raised funds in 1960 to purchase the painting of Paul Revere's ride, "The Fate of a Nation Was Riding That Night," by William Robinson Leigh, and keep it hanging in the historic Old North Church in Boston. She was married first to Nathaniel B. Wales, who was credited with inventing the Kelvinator, an early refrigerator. Following their divorce in 1925, she was married to Dr. John I. Middleton. After a second divorce, she was married in 1928 to Capt. F. Taylor Evans, U.S.N., a son of Rear Adm. Robley D. Evans. Following his death in 1935, she was married to Mr. Greenough. She is survived by the daughter of her first marriage, Lady Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton, the former Natalie Wales Paine, who headed Bundles for Britain in World War II and subsequently Common Cause, Inc., an anti-Communist organization; two sisters, Mrs. George T. VanAntwerp and Mrs. Warren Butler; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 11 am in the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest at 90th Street and Fifth Ave, in which she had long been active.

Scarritt, daughter of Rev. Dr. W. R. Scarritt, rector of the Trinity Episcopal church, was married this afternoon to Nathaniel B. Wales of Braintree, son of George O. Wales of that town. The ceremony at the Trinity church was witnessed by many of the young friends of the happy couple, and the guests included a number from Boston, Brookline, Braintree and the Bridewaters. [picture of the bride] The ceremony was performed by Dean George Hodges, DD, of Cambridge, and the bridal party was met at the altar by Rev. Dr. Scarritt, rector of the church and father of the bride. The groom was accompanied by Alvah Morrison of Braintree and the matron of honor, Mrs. Louise Farrell of St. Louis, Mo., a sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Miss Gwendoline and Miss Linda Scarritt, twin sisters of the bride. The flower girl was Miss Barbara Butler of Northampton. The ushers were Carroll Bill of Braintree, Tron Peterson of New York city, William R. Scarritt, Jr., Clarence A. Fultz of Winchester and James V. Dignowity of Brookline. The bride's dress was ivory satin, point de duchess lace and old family lace trimming. She carried an ivory prayer book and pink roses and wore a string of pearls. The matron of honor wore pink silk, with lace and ribbon trimmings, and carried a bouquet of sweet peas. The bridesmaids wore pink liberty silk and carried water lilies. The flower girl wore white muslin with val lace trimming. She carried a basket of sweet peas. The mother of the bride wore violet crepe de chine, trimmed with old point lace. The newly married couple received their friends at the parsonage adjoining the church. They will pass the summer at Magnolia, and will reside on Commonwealth av, Boston, where the groom is in business. The bride is very well known in musical circles as a violinist of more than ordinary ability.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Tertius Van Dyke, pastor of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church. The bride was escorted by her father but she had no bridal attendants. Best man and ushers also were dispensed with. The ceremony was followed by an informal reception, after which Dr. and Mrs. Middleton left for a brief trip. They will sail for Europe this week and on their return in the Autumn will live in New York. Among the guests at the wedding were the bride's parents, her daughter, Miss Natalie Wales; Nathaniel Brackett Wales Jr., John Izard Middleton Jr., Miss Gwendolen Scarritt, sister of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Leverett Saltonstall Tuckerman, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, and William Russell Scarritt Jr. Both Dr. and Mrs. Middleton had been previously married and divorced."

She is the great- granddaughter of the late Lady Susan Symington of Edinburgh and is a descendant of Governor Dinwiddie, one of the last Governors of Virginia under the crown, he being a brother of the Duke of Durham. Mrs. Middleton has been twice married and divorced. Her first husband was Nathaniel Brackett Wales. They were divorced in July, 1923. She and her second husband, Dr. John Izard Middleton, whom she married on May 31, 1924, were divorced in Mexico in March, 1926. Captain Evans is the son of the late Admiral Robley D. Evans, "Fighting Bob Evans," and Charlotte Taylor of Washington. He is the great-grandson of General Morgan of the Morgan Rifles of the American Revolution. During the World War, Captain Evans served as senior aide to Rear Admiral Hillary Jones in the United States Atlantic Coast Patrol Squadron. He was also Commandant of the Naval Air Base at Pauillac, France, where he was made an officer of the Legion of Honor. Captain Evans and his wife, the former Gertrude Pullman, were divorced on Nov 3, 1927, in the Court of the State of Sonora, Mexico. The marriage will take place on Feb 11 at the home of Mrs. Middleton's sister, Mrs. Leverett Saltonstall Tuckerman 2d, in Boston."

Wales Jr., now at Harvard, and Mrs. Winslow, the former Miss Natalie Wales. The marriage ended in divorce in 1925, and subsequently Mrs. Wales became the wife of Dr. John I. Middleton. They were divorced, and in 1928 she was married to Captain Evans, the son of Rear Admiral Robley D. (Fighting Bob) Evans, U.S.N. Captain Evans died last March. Colonel Greenough is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Greenough and grandson of Charles B. Greenough. In 1909 he married Miss Eleanor Whitridge, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Whitridge and granddaughter of Matthew Arnold. They had two sons, John and Richard Greenough, who are now living in England with their mother. Colonel Greenough and his first wife were divorced and he then married Mrs. Edmee Reisinger, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adolphus Busch and widow of Hugo Reisinger. This marriage also ended in divorce in 1929."
