Anne E Schaeffer was born on October 26, 1872 in Liebental, Nizhne-Karamanskoj, Novouzenskogo, Samara, Russia, which was part of the Volga German community. She was the daughter of John Schaeffer and Christina Wasinger.[1]
She was part of the second group of Volga Germans who immigrated to America leaving Liebental on October 24, 1875. They traveled by train to Bremen, Germany where they met up with the first group who had left. She had her third birthday during this trip. They all left Bremen on November 2, 1875 on the SS Ohio and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on November 23, 1875.[2]
Anne (17) and Anton Herrman (23) were married in 1890.[3] Anton was born in Russia. He was the son of Joahann E. Herrman and Elizabeth (Weber) Herrman.
In the 1905 Kansas State Census, Anna, age 32, was living on the family farm with her husband and six children in Big Timber Township, Rush, Kansas.[4]

In the 1910 US Census, Anna, age 37, was living with her husband, nine children, and a boarder. It was noted that she had given birth to 11 children, but only 9 were living at that time. They lived on their own farm in Big Timber Township, Rush, Kansas.[5]

Anne passed away on November 28, 1948 in Liebenthal, Rush, Kansas at the age of 76. She was buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery in that same place along with her husband.[6]
