Paul Alfred Schauer was born on Saturday, July 13, 1889, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was the fifth of seven children born to John Edward Schauer (Friday, October 20, 1854 - Sunday, January 16, 1927) and Helen Caroline Piero Schauer (Friday, September 10, 1858 - Tuesday, December 18, 1923). His father was a tool maker and machinist who worked for many years in Canton at the Sun Vapor Street Light Company.
His World War I draft registration card indicates he was employed as a salesman for Northern Rubber Works in Chicago. He was single in 1917, living in a village named Maywood in Proviso Township, Cook County, Illinois.
He married Lillian McCullem (Monday, May 27, 1891 - Tuesday, July 27, 1982) in Chicago in 1917. In the 1920 U.S. Census Paul was married and employed as a salesman of auto tires. In the 1930 U.S. Census they lived in Chicago. Paul was employed as an accountant in a mail order house. They had one son, Waldon P. Schauer (Saturday, July 24, 1920 - Friday, May 15, 1987).
At the time Paul completed his World War II draft registration in 1942 he was employed as an accountant by Fisk & Mason, a licensed remodeling contractor, in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California. The company had been in business since 1927. From 1940 to 1958 Pasadena City Directories listed Paul as an accountant or bookkeeper for Fisk & Mason.
Paul passed away at the age of seventy-one on Tuesday, August 30, 1960, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. He and his wife, Lillian, are buried at the Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum, Altadena, Los Angeles, California.
