Research Notes
From Researcher Matthew Scheich:
For many years, it has been believed that he was Johann Christoph Schaich, son of a Josef Schaich and Maria Agnes Stiefel and was born in either Dettingen or Kappishausern. This is not correct. Upon discovery and review of the marriage record, research has shown that he was born in Kautz, and moved to his wife's nearby hometown of Jossa after they were married. His parents were Joannis and Anna Margaretha (Keuz) Scheich, both of Kautz. Although some websites - including Ancestry.com - will still feature the old information, I have uploaded the correct info to this site and FamilySearch.org
Some sites claim his son Adam was married to a woman named Anna Katharina Dorr. I have found no evidence as yet of this marriage.
His daughter who married Georgius Schneider is alternately listed as Anna Margaretha (in their marriage record) and Anna Catharina (in their children's birth records). It's likely that she is one of the Anna Catharinas listed above, though I don't know which one and have not yet been able to find a death record to help with this.
I cannot tell which Anna Catharina married Nicolaus Bellinger. I chose the youngest of the three, though this can change once further information is discovered.
His surname is given as Scheüch on some records.
A death record for a daughter named Catharina born and died in 1814 exists. However, a birth record matching her birth date shows that she was the daughter of Joannes's son Gerhard. It's most likely that the death record is in error.
