Biography
Sally Ann Schieb was born April 12, 1935 in Ohio. Her parents were Donald L and Evelyn L (McDermontt) Schieb.
Sally Schieb was the First Sergeant of Company B, First Basic Training Battalion at the Women's Army Corps Training Center. This position involved her leadership skills in the training of 200 trainees every nine weeks and the supervision of a cadre of approximately 20 permanent party personnel.
Sally Schieb is a Military Veteran.
Served in the United States Army 1955-1977 attaining enlisted rank of 1st Sergeant E-8
Served during Vietnam era and in the Women's Army Corps.

1st Sergeant Sally Schieb retired on October 31, 1977. Her decorations and awards included the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with first Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, (6th) award and the National Defense Service Medal with first Oak Leaf Cluster.
1st Sergeant Schieb passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012, at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. She was buried at the Anniston Memorial Gardens, Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama, USA[1]

I had the honor of serving with 1st Sergeant Sally Schieb from 1976-1977 while she was the 1st Sergeant of Company B, lst Bn, Fort McClellan, Alabama. I was assigned as a Drill Sergeant with the responsibility of training the 3rd PLT. With her leadership and the company Senior Drill Sergeant, I was able to have three women named outstanding Basic Trainees for the Battalion during this time. One of the trainees was later commissioned as an officer and obtained the rank of Colonel. She was surely missed when she retired in 1977.
