Biography

Obituary Joseph J. Schiesser, 98, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1992, at a local health-care center. For 50 years, Mr. Schiesser was a chemist for Swift & Co. A native of Atchison, Kan., he had lived in St. Joseph since 1905. He was a member of the Francis Street United Methodist Church; Zeredatha Lodge No. 189; A.F. & A.M.; York Rite Bodies; Mitchell chapter No. 14, Royal Arch Masons; St. Joseph Council No. 9, Royal and Select Masons; Hugh de Payens Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar; and Moila Temple Shrine. Mr. Schiesser was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie M., in 1986. Surviving: a son, John J., of Stockton, Calif.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Service: 1 p.m. Thursday, at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Burial: Mount Auburn Cemetery. Visitation: after noon Wednesday, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
