Biography

Katherine was born on 17 April 1817 in Erlenbach, Bavaria. She died on 18 March 1891 and was buried at the United Methodist cemetery in Sherrill.^[1]

Aged 31, Catherine married Mathias Tischhauser in Dubuque, Dubuque County, Iowa on 11 October 1848.^[2]Together, they had one daughter and four sons.

In 1860, she lived in Jefferson Township, Dubuque, Iowa and was enumerated with her husband Mathias, daughter Catherine, and sons John, Mathias and Henry.^[4]

Research Notes

Find a grave memorial id 22198381 has her listed as Katharina Schmit Tischhauser. The headstone does not show her maiden name. There is another Find a grave memorial id 25412543. The name is listed as Katharina Mauer Tischhauser but the headstone reads Katharina Tischhauser born Schmit. This suggests a mix-up.
