Biography

Partial transcription of Obituary in the Midland Daily News on September 19, 2012: Howard was a great family man who accomplished so much in life. He was most at peace when physically active; exercising competing in races, and riding his bicycle.

Howard served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He married Barbara Shevala on January 21, 1956 in Center Line.

In 1973 he moved to Sanford and revitalized an old landmark which he named Sanford Lake Bar and Grill. He also owned and operated the West River Road Self-Storage.

He retired from the Operating Engineers Local 324 in 1992.

He was a past President of The Sanford Historical Society.

He served as Jerome Township Supervisor for 8 years, and was current Midland County Commissioner for district #1.

He was an active member of St. Agnes Church and Knights of Columbus #8043.

He died at his home in Midland, surrounded by his wife Barbara, children and grandchildren.
