Lance Schreck was born on 10th July 1914 in Warialda, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of Matthias Schreck and Delcie Lucas. [1]
Lance married Iris Collis in 1938 in Inverell, New South Wales. [2]
On 6th November 1942 Lance enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force for military service overseas during the Second World War, at the time becoming a serious threat to Australia. He was allocated to the 2/1st Australian Infantry Battalion and served as a platoon commander in DDD Compaany during the Aitape-Wewak campaign in early 1945. The war over, he was demobilised on 18th December 1945. [3] He was awarded the campaign and service medals: 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-1945 and Australia Service Medal 1939-1945.
