Robert G. Schultz of 738 Walnut St., Emmaus, founder of the former Powder Valley Spoke & Handle Works in Zionsville R. 1, died yesterday in Allentown Hospital. He was 81. Schultz operated the firm 35 years before it was closed in 1935. Before he retired, he was a carpenter. He was the husband of the late Sallie (Heydt) Schultz who died in 1960. Born in Lower Milford Township, Lehigh County, Schultz was a son of the late Amandus and Lucinda (Bitting) Schultz. He was a member of the New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville. Surviving are a son, Howard of Emmaus; a daughter, Mabel, wife of Walter Shunk, Emmaus R. 1, a grandchild and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. Viewing will be 7-8:30 p.m. tomorrow.
