Biography

The son of John Scott and Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Scott, James Scott was born in Wilson County, Tennessee^{[citation needed]} around 1817. He married Susan Brockman (1820-1848), of unknown origins, marrying in Hendricks County, Indiana on October 23, 1839,^[1] having two known children together:

1. Margaret Scott (1841-)
2. Columbus Scott (1846-)

Widowed around 1848, James remarried, marrying Louise Hawley (1817-), marrying around 1849^{[citation needed]} and having two known children together:

1. Estelle Scott (1855-1937)
2. Alice Scott (1866-)

They made their home in Boone County, Indiana,^[2] later moving to Dunlap Township, Iowa.^[3] James Scott passed away in Dunlap Township^[4] at the age of 63.
