John M. Scott, a well known retired farmer, died at his home in Franklin township, Thursday afternoon, October 10, aged 86 years. He suffered a stroke of paralysis Wednesday and his condition was serious from the first. Mr. Scott was a son of Thomas and Isabelle Scott, deceased, and was born January 31, 1843 and spent his entire life in Greene county. His wife, Elizabeth Rinehart Scott, died twenty-four years ago. Five children survive, Mrs. Della Shriver, of Washington, Pa.; Mrs. Matilda Cowan and Randolph Scott, Waynesburg; Mrs. Henry McNeely, Jefferson township, and Ross Scott, near Waynesburg. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Catherine Rush, of Waynesburg, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Scott was a member of the Coallick M. P. church.
