Biography

Mahala Jane (Hailey/Haley) Seals was 10 Feb 1862[1] Alabama. Also given as "Feb 1861"[2] She was the daughter of Daniel Seale and Ann Kelly.

“Haley Seals” married Gabriel Pilant on 18 Feb 1877 in Limestone county, Alabama,[3] (Gabriel was b. ca. 1855 TN, both parents b. TN.) [4] In 1880 Gabriel and Hailey lived in Limestone, AL, next door to Mahala's father, Daniel, and Gabriel's brother George Pilant. By 1900 “Hailey” was in Falls co. TX, widowed, living with her brothers Clark and George. [5]

Death

Mahala "Mrs. G Pilant" born "1861", died 14 Nov 1929, Limestone County, Texas. She had lived there 30 years, father’s name “Daniel Seale”, mother’s name blank. Buried Cobb Cemetery. Certificate not filed until 31 July 1930 [typo?], informant “H Pilant” of Thornton Texas. (Probably son Harvey) [6]

This is in conflict with the headstone (in Thornton Cemetery) which states “Halie J Pilant” was born 10 Feb 1862 and died d. 18 Nov 1929, Limestone, TX, bur. Thornton Cemetery, Thornton, Limestone, TX. [7]
