David Sears performed Patriotic Service in Massachusetts in the American Revolution.

David Sears was born on 10 May 1744 in Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, as the fifth child of Judah Sears and Mary Paddock. David was christened on 17 Jun 1744.

He had ten siblings, namely: Ann, Judah, Alden, Nathan, Richard, Mary, Sarah, Alice, Mary, and Elizabeth.

When he was 18, he married Abigail Gerry on 26 Aug 1762 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts. They had no issue.

When he was 21, he married his second wife, Susannah Handy, daughter of Zaccheus Handy and Susannah --Handy, on 13 Feb 1766 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts.

David Sears and Susannah Handy had the following children:

  1. Lot Sears was born on 02 Jul 1767 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He died in Feb 1848 in New York, New York, USA. He married Lurany Butler on 02 Oct 1798.
  2. Prince Sears was born on 15 Oct 1768 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He died on 25 Oct 1797 in Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA. He married Sallie Tucker on 20 Apr 1793 in Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA. He married Rebecca Fuller on 03 Jun 1794.
  3. Susannah Sears was born on 29 Dec 1770 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts.
  4. Alice Sears was born on 01 Sep 1773 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts. She married Ebenezer Clarke on 12 Dec 1792.
  5. Achsah Sears was born on 09 Apr 1776 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts. She died on 15 Feb 1815. She married Daniel Belden Stow on 23 Oct 1796.
  6. David Sears was born on 19 Jul 1778 in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA. He married Phebe Pease in Hudson, Columbia, New York, USA.

David Sears marched in Capt Seth Brigg's Co., on alarm at Lexington, leaving home 19 Apr; 80 miles; 4 days' service; wages and expense, 12s and 4s 3d; and on alarm at Dartmouth, in 2d Foot Co., Lieut John Doty, 5-11 Sep 1778, 6 days; wages £1.12.0. He was also called on alarm at Dartmouth, 6-7 May 1776.[1]


He died in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.

Probate

David Sears of Rochester, yeoman died intestate and on 6 May 1782, David Peckham of Rochester was granted the administration of his estate.[2]

His inventory was taken on 27 May 1782 in Rochester. His estate was represented as insolvent. His widow Susannah received her dower. A list of claims and creditors was recorded. An account of his estate by David Peckham was recorded which included the sale of real estate, allowance for the widow, and administration fees. The balance was proportioned to the creditors.[3]
