Elizabeth (Sebastian) Trammell (1734)

Biography

Elizabeth Sebastian, daughter of Joseph Sebastian and Anne Martin, was born 10 Mar 1733/34 according to the parish register of St. Paul's Parish in Stafford County, Virginia. In 1762 we find that Joseph Sebastian bequeathed one shilling to his daughter Elizabeth Trammell and to his son Joseph Jr.^[1] So Elizabeth married a Trammell, but which one?

See Thomas Trammell (abt.1726-). Gottschalk says, "Thomas Trammell had a wife Elizabeth who was the daughter to Joseph Sebastian" but she provides no proof. St. Paul's Parish is in modern day King and Queen County, an area that is many miles from Fairfax County where Thomas lived. Note also that Elizabeth was probably too young to be the mother of Thomas's eldest children but her age does allow her to be Thomas's second wife.

How Gottschalk concluded Elizabeth's husband was Thomas Trammell is not known. It appears to be an error. See Thomas's profile for more information.
