Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of George Byron Seely announce his passing, at home, on January 7th, 2024. George was born July 15th, 1937, to parents Charles and Ida Seely, in Havelock, NB. George is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Diane Seely (Douglass), his three doting daughters Andrea (Dale), Leah (Rob) and Cara (Jonathan); ten wonderful grandchildren Alysha, Hailee, Kevin, Byron (Sarah), Samantha, Aiden, Victoria, Jessica (Cade), Emma and Kaleb; and the apple of his eye, great-granddaughter Eddison. George will also be fondly remembered by sister Mona Mosher (Everett) and brother Cuthbert (Wanda), along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was pre-deceased by his brother Ernest Seely (Myra) and sister Hazel Clark (Arthur). George studied engineering at the University of New Brunswick and at the Nova Scotia Technical Institute in Halifax, NS. George worked as a consultant in the engineering field for a number of companies and subsequently achieved 30 years of service within various departments in the Government of New Brunswick. George always enjoyed helping neighbours, family and friends, and was known by most as “Mr. Fix It”, and for his quick wit. He could be found helping family during maple syrup season, working under cars in the driveway, or tinkering around the house. George always ensured family never had to take their cars to the garage, as he didn’t see the need if it was something he could repair himself. Towards the end, George enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in the den, surrounded by family, reminiscing about his many experiences in life.
