George was a reporter for the Associated Press. He also worked as a newspaper editor. He was investigated by the U.S. Government for his role in the Pancho Villa incident where he attempted to act as an intermediary between Villa and the government.
His marriage to Henry Dabbs unraveled when he was revealed to be a bigamist. He married again several times after his divorce from Henry.
