Biography

Ann Selby was born to Thomas Selby and his wife Rebecca, in Gloucestershire, England, and was baptised on the 21st May 1777, in Cirencester. ^[1]

She married William Thomas on the 30th January 1797, in Nacton, Suffolk,^[2] with their first child arriving later that same year while they were in Cambridge. There were to be six children, two daughters, and four sons:

1. Richard Selby (1797–1852)
2. William (1799–1860)
3. Robert (1806–1889)
4. Ann (1808–1887 (Knee))
5. Elizabeth (1810–1872 ())
6. John (1813–1862)

It is not known when Ann, or her husband William, died, just that they died while their youngest child, John, was still young, perhaps soon after he was apprenticed at age 12 to John Hamlett of Stroud, or perhaps before. It is possible she was the Ann Thomas, age 61, buried on the 6th November 1836, in Bristol, although this would be later than other records suggest.
