William was an early settler of the town of Cambridge, NY[2] He was married to Catherine McMaster on 5 February 1757 at Palmer, MA. [3] William and his brother, Oliver, were members of the Whiteside Coventer church, Cambridge, Washington Co., NY. Each of them had a child baptized at the first meeting at the church on 19 August 1764[4] William was ordained as ruling elder of Whiteside Coventer church on 22 October 1769[4]

The D.A.R. file for William Selfridge, spouse Katherine McMasters shows William's birth about 1733 at Shrewsberry, MA and his death after 1790 at Cambridge, NY. He was in the 16th Reg. Albany Co., Militia, NY.
