March 26 1859:

I keep Betsy's oldest son by her first husband. He is eleven years old and we find him useful (316).

Your sister Betsy's son Simeon Sell is come into some property by the death of Mr. Simeon Sell deceased. He died March 28th. He left his property in the name of the Sells, and has left them well (316).

Simeon Sell was living with his grandmother, Maria Wilson, at age 5 after his mother was left a widow and at age 11 after her remarriage to a man named Crabtree. She had four children, (including twins) within about three years of marriage.
