Biography

James Sellers is the son of Noah and Timney Ellen Parsons Sellers. Census information indicates he was born in South Carolina and that by 1860 his family is residing in District 2, Henderson Co., TN.

Civil War - C.S.A. Enlisted as a Private in Company K, 19th Tennessee Cavalry; served under Forrest.

Marriages

1st Wife --- Tennessee H. O'Neal of Madison Co., TN. She died August 22, 1871. Children: Louella Sellers (b. 1868) and James H. Sellers (b. 1870) - information from findagrave.com.

2nd Wife --- Arminda Bell Starnes, a widow with a young son, before 1872. The couple have a daughter, Lillie M., born in 1872. By the 1880 Census, Lillie is found living with her Sellers grandparents so her mother has probably died.

On August 1, 1881, J C Sellers files for a Legacy Inheritance and Guardianship from the James Montgomery Estate for his daughter and step-son - supporting the fact that Arminda has died.

3rd Wife --- Mary Lee Moore on October 30, 1887 in Fannin, Texas. This writer did not research any children born to this marriage. Mary Moore Sellers filed for his Civil War Pension. The 1900 US Census shows this family living in Justice Precinct 6, Fannin, Texas.

Death

James Calhoun Sellers died March 20, 1901 at age 59. Burial is in Forest Grove Cemetery, Telephone, Fannin Co., Texas.^[1]
