Biography

John SEMMENS was born on Tuesday 07 June 1825 in Ludgvan, Cornwall, England. He was the eldest child of William Semmens and Bridget (Pooley) Semmens.

John married Charlotte FOSS on 30 August 1851 at St Hilary, Cornwall, England.

The barque, Caucasian set sail from Plymouth, England on 11 November 1851 with John (age 26, Agr. Labourer) and Charlotte (20) SEMMENS among the passengers and arrived at Port Adelaide, Colony of South Australia on 6 February 1852[1][2].

They soon moved on to Ballarat, Colony of Victoria where they began their family.
