George was born in 1832. He was the son of John Sevier and Rhoda Overstreet. He passed away in 1863.
I have heard the story that George Washington Sevier Sr went to Missouri with some of his brothers in the 1850s but that he returned to Tennessee. He was obviously back in Tennessee by the 1860 census. He also married in Fentress County Tennessee in 1860.
The following is an entry from the Ledger of John (Jack) Sevier. The transcription appeared in the Fall 1985 issue of the Upper Cumberland Genealogical Association journal.
"G. W . Sevier was killed by the yankees Dec. 7. 1863 on Sulphur Creek, Ky. age 31 years 8 months and three days The son of John and R. L. Sevier left a wife and little son age upwards of 14 months old."
The following is an entry from the Mrs. Eliza French Bible. She was Eliza Ann Davidson Sevier French. The was married to George Washington Sevier Sr. The transcription appears in the book Cumberland County Kentucky Bible Records compiled by Randolph N Smith 1983.
"George W. Sevier was killed by the Yankees on the 7 day of December, 1863 on Sulphur Creek, Ky. Age__years, 8 months & __days belong to Southering Confederacy, son of John and Rhoda L. Sevier."
