James married Tina Bond in 1913 in Miller County, Missouri. They had one daughter and separated shortly after her birth. He married second Anna L. Pankey in 1919 in Miller County, Missouri. They had one daughter. Anna's surname is also given as Dake by one family tree. No marriage record has been found for either of James' marriages.
