A Policeman's funeral at Blackburn -
The remains of PC Isaac Sharples were interred this afternoon at the Blackburn Cemetery. Mr Sharples who had been in the borough police force for about seventeen years was highly esteemed by his comrades.
The hearse containing the coffin was proceeded by thirty-two constables and six sergeants in charge and two inspectors and a brass band which played the Dead March in "Saul" along the route between the deceased officer's house in Lord Derby Street and the cemetery. Large numbers of people watched the procession pass through the streets.
