The death occurred on Thursday week of Mrs. Emily Ayres, who had attained the age of 71 years. She was a woman of strong personality, and consequently too a keen interest in the affairs of the church and village. She was a regular worshipper at the Parish Church, and one of the oldest members of the Mothers' Union. Mr Thomas Ayres, who was unable to attend the funeral owing to ill-health, and Mrs. Ayres recently celebrated their golden wedding having lived all their married life in the village. The funderal took place on Monday, the Rector (the Rev. A. Hammond) officiating."
