When Mose Sheffield was born on December 7, 1883 in Lawrence, Alabama his father John was 30 and his mother Francis was 29. He and his family moved to Texas when Mose was 6 years old locating at Itasca; he resided in Hill County the remainder of his life.
He married Maudie Mae Jones April 06, 1906 in Johnson, Texas and was a member of the Pentacostal Church [1]. Together they had 13 children in 29 years. Mose died on December 6, 1953 in Hillsboro, Texas a day before his 70th birthday.

His wife, Maudie Mae Jones Sheffield, survived him. They were married April 9, 1906 in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas. He was also survived by 4 brothers, Will of Cleburne, Texas; Jim of Brownwood, Texas; Jake of Blooming Grove, Texas; and Henry of Cleburne, Texas, 2 sisters, Susie Wilburn of Cleburne, Texas and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Roderick of Keene, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his infant son: Mose Lee Sheffield and daughter: Vita Pearl Sheffield Thompson.
Mose left 6 sons, Roy of Hillsboro, Jim, Luther & J.T. of Cleburne, Raymond of Red Oak and Frank of Paducah; 5 daughters, Mrs. Claude Thomas of Hillsboro. Mrs. Lula Mae Willett of West, Mrs. Susie Baker of Peoria, Mrs. Pearl Monroe of Paducah & Mrs. Mozelle Votaw of Hillsboro. 38 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
