John Shimmel (b. c. 1846 - d. unknown)
Residence and Timeline:
1806: Born in Pennsylvania
1850 Census: Rock Hill, Bucks, Pennsylvania
Death:
Mary (Shelly) Shimmel died after 1850 and before 1870, possibly 4 Mar 1862 in Springfield, Bucks, Pennsylvania (see Research Notes).
Research Notes
Joseph Shimmel married two sisters: Mary (Shelly) Shimmel and Barbara (Shelly) Shimmel (b. 1810 - d. 1883). Mary was listed as wife in 1850 Census. Barbara was listed as wife in 1870 census in Bedminster, Bucks, Pennsylvania. That means Mary probably died and Barbara married Joseph between 1850 and 1870.
There is a Mary Schimmel listed as having been buried in Springfield Mennonite Cemetery on 4 Mar 1862 in Springfield, Bucks, Pennsylvania.[4] However, it is unclear if this is the same person. The mennonite connection makes this interesting as well as the fact that Springfield is the location of her husband's birth.
