Biography

Captain John Shine was born 25 November 25 1725. He married married Sarah Mackilwean in 1752. He was a North Carolina Revolutionary war soldier.

John Shine and Sarah Mackelwiain were married the 22 March 1752 , their children were:

• James Shine 30 January or 6 August 1753
• Eleazabeth Shine 6 August 1754
• Eleanor “Lany” Shine 24 Septmber 1756
• John Shine 22 November 1758
• Francis Stringer Shine 24 March 1760 or 1
• Hanah Shine 18 June 1762 or 3
• Mary Shine 11 December 1763

Sarah died in 1763, at age 28 at death place, North Carolina. This is confirmed by her father's will, Sarah evidently preceded her father in death as she is not mentioned. He second married Mary. They had:

• Sarah Eleasabeth Shine 7 June 1765
• William Shine 26 September 1768
• Daniell Shine 23 July 1771
• Nancey Shine14 October 1772

Daniel Shine was born in 1690 in Ireland.He came to New Bern North Carolina in 1710.He married Elizabeth Green. Daniel Shine and Elizabeth Green’s first son John ( 11/25/1725) had a son named Francis Stringer Shine (b. 1760).He had a son named Richard Alexander (b. 1810) that moved to Florida and became a prosperous brick maker.His son, Dr. William Francis Shine (b. 1835) was an important doctor during the civil war, and is buried at Monticello—Thomas Jefferson’s home.He married Maria Jefferson Eppes. Her parents were Francis Eppes and Susan Ware.Her grandmother was Maria “Polly” Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson’s daughter.
