Biography
William H Shockey was born in Oct 1852 in Grant Co, Indiana the oldest of 5 children to John Shockey 1831-1922 and Catherine King Shockey 1833-1889. Williams siblings were Daniel Shockey 1859-1934, Lucinda Jane Shockey 1863-1948, Mary Isabelle Shockey 1866-?, and Elizabeth Shockey McCloskey Macklin 1867-1964. William was married in 1876 in Indiana to Mernerva Riley Sep 1848-1922. They had 5 children all born in MO. Addie Shockey 1878-bet 1900-1910, Thomas E Shockey 1881-?, Infant daughter Shockey 1883-1883, John E Shockey 1885-?, Mary C Shockey 1886-?. Based on Census records in 1860 William, his parents and his brother Daniel lived in Franklin, Grant Co, Indiana. Sometime between 1876 and 1878 they were living in Adair Co, Missouri and remained there until after 1886. In 1900 William, his wife and 4 children were living in Welch, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory. Between 1900- 1910 they moved to Craig Co, Oklahoma. In 1910 William, his wife, 3 children and a grandson were living in Township 5, Craig, Oklahoma. In 1920 William, his wife and the same grandson were living in Township 5, Craig, Oklahoma. William passed away in 1925 and is buried at the Scott Cem, Estella, Craig Co, Oklahoma. His wife Mernerva is buried by his side. Their infant daughter is buried in South Prairie Cem, Wilson Twp, Adair Co, Missouri [which I have been unable to locate]. The burial locations of the rest of his children are unknown at this time.

A son of Oral (Shockey) Eddins, FTDNA kit # 249000, and his 5th cousin 2x removed, Dan Shockey, FTDNA kit # 393948, match at a Genetic Distance of 1 on 111 markers, thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their most-recent common ancestor who is Johann Schacke, the 5x great grandfather of Oral (Shockey) Eddins and 4x great grandfather of Dan Shockey.
