Biography

George W. Shockley[1][2] was born on 19 April 1868[1] in Tennessee[3] to Thomas Shockley and Purline (Wolf) Shockley.

He married Clara Owen on 16 April 1890 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky[4]. They had six children: Ernest[5][6], Ethel Catherine[7], Grace[8][9], Owen[10], Evelyn[11] and Joseph Levant[12]. Clara states in the 1900 census[13] that she has had five children, only four of whom (Ernest, Ethel, Grace, and Owen) were still living at the time, so there likely was another child who died young.

George appears in the 1870[3] and 1880[14] censuses with his parents and siblings, and in the 1900[15], 1910[16], 1920[17] and 1930[18] censuses with his wife and children.

He passed away 19 June 1933[1] in Pasadena, California[1] of heart disease[1] and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum, Altadena, California[19].
