Martin Shuford was part of a Southern Pioneer Family.
Martin Shuford (aka John Martin Shuford) was born about 1744 in Pennsylvania Colony, North America. He was the son of Johannes Shuford and Mary Clare Conrad. As per the naming conventions of his parents' German culture, he would have been known by his middle name, Martin. His first name was Johann, but he would not have used that name. He was called Martin Shuford. His younger brother Johannes "John" Shuford was christened Johannes and called "John."
Martin married Eve Catherine Warlick on 20 November 1769. After Martin's death, she married Jacob Summey.[1]
Martin died June 22, 1780 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, from wounds sustained during the Battle of Ramsour's Mill. He had fought on the side of the Loyalists. There is a Find A Gravememorial for him in Lincoln, North Carolina, USA.
The children of Martin and Eve (Warlick) Shuford were:
Phillip Shuford, born 1781 (after his father's death), married Anna Abernathy.
