Peter married Mary Polly Slemp on 20 September 1804 in Wythe County, Virginia[2]
The 1810 census lists Peter Shoop as head of family and a male under 10 years, 2 females under 10 and a female 26 to 44 years. The children would be William born 1807 and his sisters, Sarah born 1805 and Elizabeth 1809.[3]
He is on the 1815 Southwest Virginia Tax Assessment listing a 150 acre farm on the head of the South Fork of Holston. He has a cabin, one stable, loom, meat and spring houses, and wagon makers ship of logs. The value is $400,[4]
Peter and family are on the 1820 census living in Evensham, Wythe County, Virginia. The total of the household is 10.[5]In 1830 the family remains in Wythe County, Virginia with a total of 13 persons.[6]The 1840 census lists 59 year old Peter and 6 family members living in Smyth County. Smyth was formed in 1832 from from Wythe County.[7]
Peter passes away in July 1849 from Dropsy. He had been sick for 5 months.[8]
