Robert was born in 1626, a younger son of Robert Sidney, Earl of Leicester and his wife, Dorothy Percy. Around 1648 he was in the Netherlands with other English royalists and took up with Lucy Walter, former mistress of Robert's elder brother, Algernon. The liaison was brief for Lucy very soon became mistress of the exiled Prince of Wales. Robert passed away in 1668. [1]
The Wikipedia entry for this Robert Sidney says he died young. [2]
