Some online sources, including Family Search and AncestryUK give the place of birth of the Simmons and Elwell families as Murhall. There is no such place near Penn, but there was a hamlet called Murchall (meaning Great Hall) from at least 1613. Muchall Road still exists in Penn, its post code is WV4.
