Isabelle (whose given name was given variously as Isabella, Isabell, Belle et al.) was born 25 Jan 1855 in Indiana [for locale see Research Note 1.] the daughter of Frank Simmons and Jane Bella Sams. The family had moved to Kansas Territory by 1860, shortly before it became a state in January of 1861.[1]
Isabelle (cited as Jennie Simmons, Jennie perhaps a familiar name for Jane) first married John B Chevalier 3 Jul 1873 in Douglas, Kansas.[2] A man whom appeared to have promptly died leaving her a widow.
Isabelle (now Chevalier) next married Edwin Insco Williams 14 May 1875 still being found in Douglas, Kansas.[3]
The fruit of this union was six children before she was widowed.[4][5]
Isabelle passed away 14 May 1920, and was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma.[6]
Research Notes:
While Isabella's U.S., Find a Grave® profile cites "Pleasant Township, Allen County, Indiana" as her birthplace, her parents were living in Washington, Warren County, Indiana, and owning a farm in 1850. They are found there with what would have been her older brother William H Simmons, but he died very soon after the census.[7] A source for the Find a Grave® cited birth place has not been found as of yet.
The Census records show a wildly divergent range of ages for Isabelle's father and step-mother, but their children are reasonably consistent.
