DOROTHY A. HEBB, 81, formerly of Valley Point, WV, passed away on Friday, February, 8, 2013, at Heartland of Preston County, Kingwood, WV. The daughter of the late Isaac and Bertha Smith Simmons, she was born May 29, 1931, in Sugerlands, WV. She grew up in Tucker County and attended Thomas High School. Dorothy spent most of her life caring for her family and working at times for many local restaurants, but she will best be remembered as the "Avon Lady". She loved volunteer work and was always homeroom mother for her children and Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was known for her candy making and fund raising skills. Recently, she was recognized for 24 years of volunteer service to Heartland of Preston County. Dorothy was a Methodist by faith and recently attended the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Lenox Homemakers. She was the loving wife to the late James J. Hebb. They were married in Oakland, MD, in 1948, and celebrated nearly 43 years together before Jim's passing in 1991. She is survived by four children: Mary Jo Delauder of Grafton, James E. Hebb and his wife, Darlene, of Smithfield, PA, Connie Finamore and her husband, Joe, of Morgantown, and Judy Hebb of Redondo Beach, CA; two sisters and their spouses, Carol and Robert Rumer of Cranesville and Patty and Chuck Phillips of Inwood, WV; two brothers: Arley Simmons (Jr.) of Elkins and Bobby Reckart and his wife, Nina, of Terra Alta; a special sister-in-law, Millie Hebb Sisler, of Lorain, OH; very near and dear grandchildren: Joe Shultz, Jr., Tracy Shultz, Lori Hebb Schlossnagle, Jamie Hebb Hoffer, Scott Finamore and Jennifer Finamore Bockoff; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Hebb; three sisters: Katherine Hauger, Mary Lipscomb and Betty Shaffer; two brothers, Edward Simmons and Johnny Simmons; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service in the funeral home, with Rev. Michael R. Argabrite officiating. Burial will be in the Terra Alta Cemetery, Terra Alta, WV.
