He was christened on 13th October that year in Hook, Yorkshire. His parents were James & Mary Simpson. [2]
He went up to Trinity College Cambridge in 1832, attaining his BA in 1837.[3]
He was ordained deacon in the diocese of Durham in 1836, priested in 1838, was curate of Benwell from 1836-7, Curate of St Andrew's Newcastle from 1837-43, in which time he met Jane.[3]
He married Jane Werge on 14 July 1840 in Newcastle.[4]
In 1841, he and his new wife are living in Ridley Place, Newcastle.[5]
He became Vicar of North Sunderland in 1843, remaining in post until 1886.[3]
The 1851, 1861 & 1871 census records show him as vicar of North Sunderland[6][7][8]
1881 is the same except that he is now a widower.[9]
He was a member of the Berwickshire Naturalist's Club.[10]
He died on 13th August 1886 and is buried in North Sunderland[1][11]
