Biography

Agnes Simpson was born about 1854 in Moboy, County Antrim, Ireland.[1] She was the daughter of James Simpson, a farmer.[2]

Agnes Simpson of Moboy, County Antrim married William Alexander Simpson of Gortaheron, County Antrim married on 10 April 1879 at Second Portglenone Presbyterian Church, Portglenone, County Antrim.[2] The witnesses were James Simpson and Isabella Simpson.

William and Agnes Simpson had at least seven children: Catherine Simpson (b. 1880), Robert Hugh Simpson (b. 1881), Margaret Simpson (b. 1884), James Simpson (1887-1888), Ellen Simpson (1891-1903), John Simpson (b. 1893) and Elizabeth Jane Simpson (b. 1896).

At some point between the birth of the last child in 1896 and 1901 the Simpson family moved to Scotland.

In the 1901 Scotland census, Agnes Simpson was age 46, living at Holytown, Lanarkshire, Scotland with her husband William Simpson (44) and children Catherine Simpson (20), Robert H Simpson (18), Maggie Simpson (16), Ellen Simpson (10), John Simpson (7) and Eliza J Simpson (5). Also boarders Samuel McCister (24) and John Stewart (23).[3]

In the 1911 Scotland census, Agnes Simpson was age 56, living at Holytown, Lanarkshire, Scotland with her husband William Simpson (54) and children Maggie Simpson (26), John Simpson (17), Lizzie Simpson (15), Robert Simpson (29) and Robert's wife Margaret SImpson (23) and baby daughter Mary Simpson. [4]

Agnes's husband William Simpson died at Holytown, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1926.

Agnes Simpson died at Holytown, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1934, age 79.[1]

Agnes Simpson was buried in Wrangholm Churchyard, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland.[5]
