Richard was born in 1806. He was the son of Benjamin Simpson and Margaret Fox.

Richard, son of Benjamin Simpson & Margaret Fox, was born on 13 February 1806 and baptised on 24 April 1807 in Barnard Castle, Durham, England.[1] 24 Apr 1807 Richard Simpson, of Barnard Castle, born 13 Feb 1806, 1st son of Benjamin Simpson (weaver, native of Barningham) by his wife Margaret Fox (native of Barnard Castle) [2]

He passed away in 1807 and was buried at Barnard Castle, Durham 13 Oct 1807 Richard Simpson, of Barnard Castle, age: 20 months, died 11 Oct, son of Benjamin Simpson (weaver) by his wife Margaret late Fox [2]
