A.R. was the son of Allen R. Sisk and Mary Melissa "Polly" Alexander. In 1854, he married Rachel Whig Snelgrove. Their children included Henry Allen, Rebecca Melissa, Peter M. Kendrick, Mary Emaline, Milton Price, Thomas Gibson, Whig, and Millie. Following Rachel's early death at 44, A.R. married Sarah A. Rose, a widow, in 1887. Their children included Henderson, Frances Emadora, Willie, and Mary Alice.
