Joseph Skidmore was born 31 JUL 1761 in Botetourt, Virginia, and passed away Feb. 8, 1847, in Lincoln County, Kentucky. He was the son of James Skidmore and Sarah McDonald. Joseph was a veteran of the Revolutionary War; he was a Private in the Virginia Line, and lived in Botetourt County, Virginia, at the time of his enlistment. In 1788, Joseph moved to Lincoln County (still Virginia), and also served from there during the Indian War of 1791. Joseph married Hannah McKinney, on 20 Aug 1791, in Lincoln County, the year before Kentucky became the 15th state in the Union in 1792. After Hanna passed, he married Catherine Manning 27 AUG 1806 in Lincoln Co, Kentucky.[1][2]
