Research note
There's a lot of confusion between this Daniel Skinner of Windsor (son of Joseph Skinner and Mary Grant), and Daniel Skinner (1712-1796) of Hartford, son of John Skinner and Rachel Pratt. Both Stiles[3] and Barbour[8] conflated the two families: Stiles added the children of Daniel of Hartford to Daniel of Windsor, while Barbour borrowed the birthdate and wife of Daniel of Windsor in his profile of Daniel of Hartford. This has led to all sorts of errors in later genealogies. To clearly separate the two Daniels, it is helpful to refer to their wills[6][9] which list the wife and children living when the wills were written. A full accounting of the children of each Daniel also helps. Daniel of Windsor lived his entire life in Windsor and had all his children there, while Daniel of Hartford lived his entire life in Hartford and had all his children there.
