Biography

Goodrich Lightfoot was born in 1770. He passed away in 1833.

Goodrich Lightfoot Slaughter was born in Culpeper County, Virginia on January 26, 1770. His parents were Reuben and Ann Poindexter Slaughter. His parents moved to Kanawha County before 1789 and Goodrich must have moved with them.

His father was an involved in the government in Kanawha County. Goodrich married Hannah VanBibber in Kanawha County on May 17, 1797. She was the daughter of John and Chlorinda Standifer VanBibber.

Goodrich and Hannah had 11 Children and lived the rest of their lives in Kanawha County, Virginia, which is now West Virginia. Goodrich died on July 3, 1833 and Hannah died in 1858. Both were probably buried in the Donnally family plot on the Donnally homestead in Charleston.

That cemetery was established in 1830, and was part of the garden of the old Donnally homestead. It was moved to the Old Circle Section of Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston where a large memorial was erected there to the family.
